PEOPLE in Dodington came together to mark The Queen’s 90th birthday.
Residents joined parish councillors at Shire Way Community Centre to light the parish beacon on Her Majesty’s birthday on Thursday (April 21).
Local artist Val Robinson, who originally created the shire horse emblem on the beacon, was also at the special event.
"We were very pleased to renew our long-standing relationship with Shire Way Community Centre and Midway Social Club" said Cllr Paul Hulbert, vice-chairman of Dodington Parish Council.
"Beacons are a traditional way of commemorating national events. The Shire Way beacon marks the important connection between the council and the social life of this part of our community."
Hundreds of beacons were lit up and down the country to mark The Queen turning 90. Other celebrations are being held in South Gloucestershire throughout May and June to celebrate her official birthday on June 11.
