CELEBRATIONS for the Women’s Institute's 100th anniversary continued last weekend as ladies from Slimbridge enjoyed an afternoon tea with a millionaire in North Nibley.
The ladies of Slimbridge Parish WI enjoyed an afternoon at Swinhay House, the futuristic mansion of Renishaw chief executive Sir David McMurtry and his wife Teresa.
The contemporary mansion in North Nibley is famous in its own right, having been used as part of the highly successful BBC series, Sherlock.
The ladies were welcomed to the stately home with a glass of bubbly followed by a traditional afternoon tea.
The WI members enjoyed vast trays of patisserie style cakes, while Sir David graciously served tea along with all the other helpers who made the day such a success.
As the windy afternoon proved too much, the women explored the inside of the house, taking in the panoramic views of the Gloucestershire countryside as well as marvelling at the exotic inside garden.
As a momento to the wonderful afternoon the ladies posed for a photo outside the stately home before they headed home.
