NINE vehicles crashed on the Avon Ring Road, causing major delays on Monday night.
The pile-up on the A4174 involved one HGV as well as numerous cars but no-one is believed to have been seriously injured in the accident.
It happened between Warmley and Longwell Green just after 4pm.
Three fire engines were sent to the scene and firefighters helped a number of people from their cars.
A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “Once on scene crews worked alongside other emergency services using rescue and cutting equipment.
“A number of people were helped from their vehicles before being taken to hospital. Firefighters remained on scene to assist clearing the scene and making it safe.”
There were long delays on the ring road during last night’s rush hour. The road was closed between the Marsham Way junction for Aspects Leisure Park and Asda and the Wraxall Road junction for Warmley, Cadbury Heath and Kingswood.
