A POPULAR gin distiller in Thornbury has unveiled its brand-new limited edition product inspired by one of the region’s most iconic figures – Brunel.

Bramley & Gage, who create the award-winning 6 O’Clock Gin on Thornbury’s trading estate, have launched the new “Brunel” gin, named the famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, with £1 from each bottle sold being donated to the charity that maintains one of his most famous pieces of work, the SS Great Britain.

Costing £43 per bottle, the 70cl bottles will come in a distinctive block bottle, with the new concoction building on the original formulation of 6 O’clock Gin with the introduction of six new botanicals – green cardamom, nutmeg, cumin, cassia bark, cubeb and lemon – balanced with an increased alcohol content of 50 per cent ABV for a bigger, bolder expression with an intense rich flavour, citrus freshness and a dry spicy finish.

“Brunel has huge appeal,” said Michael Kain, Bramley & Gage’s director. “He was once voted the second Greatest Briton of all time, after Winston Churchill.

“His engineering achievements are visible in our bridges, tunnels and railways around the UK and he is remembered with people, places, businesses, even a university, named after him.

“It was an easy choice for us as some of his most famous work is here in Bristol. He also standardised British time for the railways, so 6 o’clock gin-time is enjoyed by gin drinkers at the same time across the UK!”

Advance orders for the Brunel Edition can now be made, for dispatch on July 19, for more information, call 01454 418046 or email at sales@bramleyandgage.com.
