A THREE-year-old boy who was in collision with a lorry in Yate is recovering in hospital.
Police have confirmed that the boy has undergone surgery to his foot and is expected to make a full recovery.
The youngster suffered serious injuries to his leg when the crash happened at a roundabout outside the town's B&Q store just before 3pm on Friday.
He was taken to Bristol Children’s Hospital where he is now recovering.
Police spokesman Martin Dunscombe said: "He needed surgery to his foot but he is okay.
"The boy was the only person injured in the accident."
Several roads, including parts of Station Road and Kennedy Way, were closed to traffic following the accident and there were long queues throughout the town during the Friday night rush hour.
Police officers redirected traffic while road collision investigators examined the scene.
Anyone with any information about the accident is asked to call police on 0845 456 7000.
