THE ladies’ section at Cotswold Edge Golf Club hosted their popular coffee morning this week with more than 50 ladies from local clubs entering the nine-hole Stableford competition.
Visiting ladies also took the opportunity to have their cars washed and buy goodies from a variety of stalls available on the day.
South Cerney ladies took the honours in both divisions of the contest.
Results: Division One: Brenda Smith (South Cerney) 21 points, Rosemary Jones (Westonbirt) 21 and Brenda St Paul (Chipping Sodbury) 18.
Division 2: Heather Wheelan (South Cerney) 16 points, Hazel Blandford (Rodway Hill) 16 and Gillian Winterson (Chipping Sodbury) 16.
Meanwhile, the sun shone on the ladies in their Loudon Bowl Trophy competition, which resulted in some impressive scores being returned and Mary Brealey winning the strokeplay competition on count-back on the day.
Results: Mary Brealey nett 70, Hannah Brown-Pearce 70 and Lyn Smart 70.
l Cotswold Edge’s men took part in the Men’s NGFL League matches, which got off to a good start with the club’s A team winning their match by 4.5 points to 1.5 against visitors Forest of Dean.
However, the B team were less fortunate in their corresponding away visit to the Forest of Dean as they went down to defeat by four points to two. l Bill Hogg celebrated victory after he returned a nett 71 score to take home the April Midweek Medal.
Hogg was followed by Colin Stokes, 74, in second place with Simon Craker, with a 75, in third. l The Cotswold Edge seniors came up against stiff opposition on their visit to Filton, which unfortunately resulted in a 6-1 defeat for them.
