A WOMAN was seriously injured after the car she was driving hit a tree near Stroud.
Emergency services including an air ambulance attended the scene on the B4066 at Nympsfield around 1.30pm on Monday, May 13.
It is understood the vehicle left the road by the Bristol and Gloucestershire Gliding Club and then collided with a tree.
The woman, aged in her 40s, was left with serious injuries and taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
Road closures were in place until around 5.15pm.
A police spokesperson said: "Police were called to the B4066 in Nympsfield at around 13.35pm on Monday with a report that a car had left the road by the Bristol and Gloucestershire Gliding Club and collided with a tree.
"A woman in her 40s was taken by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where she was treated for serious injuries.
"Road closures were put in place and were lifted at around 5.15pm."
A spokesperson from Great Western Air Ambulance Charity said: "A specialist paramedic in critical care and two critical care doctors attended the RTC in Nympsfield.
"The specialist crew responded by helicopter and treated the patient at the scene.
"The patient was then conveyed to hospital for ongoing critical care."
