INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed singer songwriter Julia Fordham is returning to the UK, following 2015’s sold-out run, with her brand new tour ‘Live By Request’. The tour kicks off in Worthing on November 10th 2016 and finishes up in her hometown, Portsmouth on November 27th.
This time Julia has asked fans to request their favourite songs from her back catalogue, all suggestions will be placed in and then pulled from what Julia promises will be a “very large and fashionable hat” before the tour begins. With her exquisite voice, stellar musicians and collection of memorable songs, this will be an evening not to be missed.
Julia began her career as a backing singer for stars such as Mari Wilson and Kim Wilde, before releasing her self-titled debut on Circa Records in 1988, which went on to be awarded Platinum status. Her second album, Porcelain was certified Gold by the BPI in 1989. Julia’s pop and jazz influenced sound has produced hits such as ‘Where Does the Time Go’, ‘The Comfort of Strangers’ and ‘Happy Ever After’. Her voice has a low, warm tone which has brought many comparisons to Joni Mitchell.
In the years since Porcelain she has worked with Grammy-winning producers such as Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock) and Grant Mitchell (Emili Sande, Seal). She has also been touring non-stop across Europe, USA and Japan.
Julia plays the Tithe Barn, Bishop Cleeve on Sunday, November 13 and St George's, Bristol, on Thursday, November 24.
