YOU Me At Six were back with a bang at Bristol’s O2 Academy last night, revisiting some songs which haven’t been played for a few years and mixing them up with tunes from their new album, Night People, which is due for general release in January and the band’s first new offering since 2014’s Cavalier Youth.
Beginning with When we were Younger, the now slicker, more polished YMAS moved through Bite my Tongue, Fresh start Fever, Loverboy, and Safer to Hate her, with those in the crowd who weren’t enjoying the raucous mosh pit making the most of singing along and enjoying every note.
The fans were young, feisty, and hungry for more as the big-name rockers, who haven’t played Bristol for seven years, put on a slick performance for the eager audience, easing out hit after hit including Stay with Me, Little Death, Plus One, Reckless, Forgive and Forget, Lived a Lie and the live debut of Swear.
Win Some, Lose Some, Underdog and Too Young to Feel this Old had the crowd begging for more, and the boys were happy to oblige.
An Encore of Noone Does it better, Room to Breathe and finishing off with the highly acclaimed new single Night People, YMAS have proved once and for all that they can rock it with the best of the big boys.
