A 19-YEAR-OLD woman whose drunken dangerous driving left a teenaged rugby player paralysed from the neck down has been warned to prepare for jail.

Molly Zoglowek of Leaside Close, Cam, pleaded guilty today to causing serious injury to Rob Camm, 19 by driving dangerously in Dursley Road, Dursley, on September 15 last year.

She also admitted driving with excess alcohol in her body.

Julian Kesner, prosecuting, told Gloucester Crown Court he was not ready for the case to be dealt with today because he still had several things to clear up.

He had not yet received any impact statement from Rob Camm about his injuries or the effect of Zogolwek's offences on him, he said.

"We need to know the full extent of his injury and the prognosis for the future," he said.

Judge Jamie Tabor QC said: "This offence left a woeful trail of unhappiness."

He said he did not think a pre-sentence report on Zogolwek would help the court because she was not the sort of woman who needed any intervention from the probation service.

"She is a young woman who has done a terrible thing and made a terrible mistake," he said.

"There is nothing the probation service can tell me about her."

He adjourned the case for two weeks and bailed Zogolwek until April 7, telling her: "I'm afraid you will have to prepare yourself for the worst. "

Dursley Rugby Club player Rob suffered neck injuries when a grey Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin driven by Zogolwek went off Dursley Road in Sandpits at around 4.50am on Sunday, September 15 last year.

Three ambulances were sent to the scene and the former Wycliffe College student was taken to Frenchay Hospital with injuries described at the time as "life-threatening".

He is now a tetraplegic and requires a ventilator to breath.

His family have set up website www.cammpaign4rob.co.uk to let people know of his progress and also about fundraising events to buy the specialist equipment he needs.
