CREATIVE pupils at Oldbury-on-Severn Primary School have been celebrating after winning a new iPad in a competition organised by a building firm.
Pilning-based Helm Construction challenged clients, business partners and local school children to re-create their logo out of interesting materials or objects.
Inventive pupils at Oldbury-on-Severn decided to put themselves in the picture, laying out on the school playing field in the shape of a giant ship’s Helm.
Helm Construction chief executive Gary Sheppard said he had been impressed by the pupils’ willingness to think outside of the box.
“We often find ourselves having to puzzle through the best way to approach a new project so I was pleased to see the youngsters had gone for an unfussy, direct and effective design.
“We were inundated with entries and will definitely be looking to run additional competitions through the year.”
The school’s headteacher Debbie Dix said she was pleased the children had won the prize.
“We have seen Helm’s signs all around Bristol and when one of the pupils suggested entering we thought it would be great to get the whole class behind it.
“In the end they came up with more than 40 different ideas, but this was by far our favourite.”
