THE people of Wotton-under-Edge came together as an artistic community last weekend, when Under the Edge Arts hosted an 'Arts Marathon' at The Chipping Hall.
The day started on Saturday, March 26 at 6am, when organiser Katie Elliott kicked things off with an hour of music.
"It was a really, really good day," said Katie.
"We had hundreds of people dropping in and out throughout the day and loads of people took part in activities ranging from felting and meditation to singing and playing musical instruments.
"The evening ended with the community choir singing in the candlelight until well past midnight. It was so lovely nobody wanted to leave!
In total, the event raised more than £900 through generous donations and the the sale of refreshments.
"The money raised will make a real difference to the work we do here at UTEA' said Kate. "Although to be honest, it would still have been worth it even if we hadn't raised a single penny because of the joy of having all the people turning up and joining in. It was absolutely brilliant!"
