YATE Common will play host to the ancient custom of Beating the Bounds this Sunday, May 1 (3pm).
The practice, which will see residents and the friends of the common join Yate mayor Cllr Tony Davis and Rev Ian Wallace walk the boundaries of the common land, takes place on Rogation Sunday.
Traditionally children are turned upside down at the corners to teach them the boundaries of their common, which they must protect.
All are welcome, meet at the St Briavel’s Drive entrance of Yate Common. The walk is suitable for pushchairs and takes about 60 to 90 minutes.
