CHIPPING Sodbury’s new volunteer-run library service was launched just six weeks ago.
“Our large team is enthusiastically learning the ropes and is very grateful for the patience being shown by users,” said volunteer Julia Bernau.
“We are more than happy to give our time to keep the library open and enjoy helping people get the most out of it.”
The library continues to offer the same services as it did before and, in addition, is open all day on Wednesday, when Yate library is shut.
“South Gloucestershire Libraries have installed a brand new self-service machine and so far, apart from the odd hiccup, all is going well,” said Mrs Bernau.
“A lot of effort went into persuading South Gloucestershire Council not to close the library, so please come in and use it so that we can prove to them that they made the right decision.”
On Victorian Day, the library will be open as usual and will stay open until 2.30pm, for children’s storytime sessions.
These will run from 1pm to 1.30pm (for pre-school children) and from 2pm to 2.30pm, (for five to eight-year-olds).
The library is open on Tuesdays, from 9.30am to 12.30pm, and 1.30pm to 4.30pm; Wednesdays, from 9.30am to 6.30pm; Fridays and Saturdays, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
