A 'death-sentenced' alpaca from Wickwar is happy celebrating his 6th birthday.
Geronimo, owned by Helen Macdonald, was sentenced to death after failing a tuberculosis test upon his arrival in the UK from New Zealand.
Helen contested the decision and asked for another test, this again gave a positive tb result.
It since emerged that the tests on Geronimo may have been flawed after he was given too much tuberculin before.
Helen is now preparing to take the case to the High Court after a judicial review was ordered.
A full-day substantive judicial review hearing will now take place on Wednesday, 6 March.
A decision on the life of Geronimo will be made then, despite the department for environmental, food and rural affairs insisting he must be slaughtered.
However, the thoughts of that trial seem far away for now as Geronimo enjoyed his sixth birthday.
