Allan Fawlk was the winner of our Volunteer of the Year award.
In a category filled with incredibly selfless people, Allan’s story really stood out.
Once considered a high suicide risk, Allan was one of the first people to use Gloucestershire’s Suicide Crisis Centre when it opened in 2013.
As he recovered he started volunteering their and is now a trustee.
Allan admitted he was a little embarrassed but ‘very grateful’ for the award.
“It’s been a long six years. I help a lot of people who were in the same boat,” he said.
Speaking about his fellow nominees Allan said: “We all do the same things, we are all helping people.”
