The silver Duke of Edinburgh group from Cirencester College won the Spirit of Youth award at the Pride of the Cotswolds awards.
Students Oliver Cook, Guy Saxby and triplets Elena, Ollie and Charlotte Clements helped look after an injured mountain biker while on an expedition in Wales.
They carried out first aid and stayed with him for four hours before guiding the emergency services up Sugar Loaf mountain.
Speaking on behalf of the group Elena, said: “We are quite surprised.
“It’s nice to hear everyone else’s stories.”
Recalling the groups heroic efforts, she said: “It was quite scary. We didn’t know the extent of the injuries.
“We just did what we practised the day before.”
