Thornbury and Yate MP Luke Hall spent a morning with students at the Castle School to answer questions and hear their views on how to improve the community.
The Student Council discussed a number of issues including youth involvement in politics, social care provisions, LGBTQ+ rights, improved transport links in Thornbury, and the refurbishment needs of the school.
Castle School will be involved in a £78 million plan to upgrade many of the district’s school buildings.
Students were particularly concerned with climate change, making it clear that they felt that adults could do more to ensure that our environment is protected for future generations.
Luke Hall said: “It was great to spend time with the students and hear their plans for improving our community, they really are a credit to the Castle School.
“I have no doubt that there was a future UK Prime Minister sat here today.”
