COTSWOLD Chorus will be holding its popular annual Christmas Concert this evening - Thursday, December 6 (7.30pm). It takes place at Dursley Tabernacle Church. The concert will include traditional and modern arrangements of carols and readings, with an opportunity for audience participation in some carols.
This year the guest artists will be the Bristol Concertina Band, a well-known group making a welcome return to Dursley with a varied programme of music. Ticket price includes seasonal refreshments. Admission for accompanied children is free.
FINAL performances of Aladdin, in a version by Godfrey Laundy, can be seen at Iron Acton Parish Hall this evening (Thursday, December 6) and tomorrow (Friday, December 7) at 7.30pm. The show is being presented by The Actonians who will be performing in a 'grand finale' of this Christmas favourite at 6.30pm on Saturday, December 8.
A GERMAN Christmas Market at Katharine Lady Berkeley's School, Wotton-under-Edge, is open to the public from 4pm today (Thursday, December 6).
Traditional cakes, sweets and biscuits, a variety of barbecued German sausages and various hot & cold drinks can be sampled. There will also be a German Winter Wonderland: an indoor ice rink and snow machine.
ROBIN and Bina Williamson of the legendary Incredible String Band present an evening of Songs and Stories for Midwinter, in Nympsfield Village Hall on Saturday, December 8 (8pm). This magical evening by candlelight, with home-made mince pies, mulled wine and carols, is suitable for all ages.
INSTANT Wit, the quick-fire comedy improvisation show from Bristol, is returning to the Rondo Theatre, Bath on Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15 (8pm).
As ever, the show will be based entirely around audience suggestions - a company member said: "Now's your chance to see a sketch about tap-dancing squirrels wearing hoodies.." Good suggestions receive flying packets of custard; the best of the evening gets a bottle of wine.
