POLICE are again warning residents not to let strangers into their homes after two distraction burglaries on Friday.

The first incident happened in Bristol Road, Cambridge, between 5.30pm and 6pm.

A man knocked on the door claiming to work for the water board and was allowed into the property by the elderly female occupier to check the water supply.

He kept the homeowner occupied before being asked to leave, at which point it was discovered that money had been stolen from the living room, possibly by a second offender.

The offender seen by the homeowner was described as white, between 30 and 40 years of age, around 5ft 5ins tall and of stocky build. He had a shaved head and an Irish accent and was wearing a fluorescent sleeveless jacket.

The second incident took place in Roseberry Road, Dursley, between 7.15pm and 7.30pm on the same evening.

A man again knocked on the door claiming to be a water official. He kept the homeowner occupied and after he left it was discovered that some money had been stolen from upstairs.

The offender was described as white, with short fair hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a fluorescent jacket.

Anyone with information on the offences should ring police on 0845 090 1234 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
