A GLOWING Ofsted report for Rednock School said it takes excellent care of its students and prepares them well for the future.
The secondary school in Dursley was rated good' overall by inspectors, with some areas gaining an excellent' rating.
The report noted the building work taking place at the school, saying: "There are exciting and challenging times ahead, which the school is well placed to exploit."
The report, carried out in November, said: "The school takes excellent care of its students, who know and appreciate that there are a range of support systems in place if they have any academic or personal problems.
"Young people who attend the school are well prepared for their future success. This is evident in their good personal development, very positive attitudes and academic standards that are above the national average."
The reported commented that students were "courteous and respectful" and that the anti-bullying provision worked well at the school.
The sixth form was also given an excellent review in the report for the quality of guidance into future employment.
The report added: "The sixth form is good, the result of an appropriate range of courses and a very positive approach to encouraging students to continue in education either at Rednock or elsewhere.
"The quality of guidance for students before they enter the sixth form, and when they move on to future employment, education or training, is excellent."
Headteacher David Alexander was praised by Ofsted for leading his team with "conviction and kindness in equal measure".
The report continued: "A strong feature of leadership and management is the extent to which middle leaders have been empowered and encouraged to innovate.
"This has come about because of the strong team spirit amongst staff at the school."
Mr Alexander said: "This is a very good report, which demonstrates the strength of the school. Outstanding care, guidance and support are at the heart of what we do.
"This is a terrific team effort - staff, students, governors and parents - have all contributed to make this a good school, which has been recognised by Ofsted."
