DRIVERS in Thornbury are being urged to tighten up on security following a spate of vehicle break-ins.
Several cars have been attacked during darkness hours in various areas of the town recently, either by forcing open doors or tampering with locks.
A Citroen Saxo parked in Ashgrove was stripped of in-car entertainment and other equipment valued at around £1,200.
A sat nav device was removed from a BMW in St David's Road while in Hazel Crescent two Peugeots were entered, one losing its music system and the other its sat nav.
A Vauxhall Corsa in Hamble Close was also broken into but nothing was stolen.
Sector Sgt Craig Ogborne said: "This spate of car crime has meant serious cost and inconvenience to the owners and any information leading to the offenders would be most welcome.
"Meanwhile we can only reiterate our advice to owners to leave nothing of value - in so far as that's possible - inside their vehicle when it's parked and unattended.
"That applies particularly to sat nav devices which are currently a choice target for thieves."
