A NEW Year's Eve concert takes place on Monday, December 31 at 6pm at St Mary's Church, Wotton-under-Edge. The concert, presented by Wotton-under-Edge Arts Association, will be given by Justine Tomlinson on violin and Derek Stuart-Clark on piano.
Justine Tomlinson, a member of Severn Strings who also gives concerts internationally, lives in Wotton-under-Edge; and Derek Stuart-Clark plays with the renowned Bath Pump Room Trio.
The programme in Wotton will be of a light nature and will include pieces by Elgar, Handel and Strauss.
Tickets are available on the door - admission price includes a glass of wine.
DICK Whittington will be presented by the Sodbury Players from Friday, January 11 to Saturday, January 19, including both matinee and evening performances. The show takes place at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall. This well-known local story (Richard Whittington was a real-life Gloucester man who became Lord Mayor of London) will be given an original panto treatment by the company based in Chipping Sodbury. Tickets can be purchased from members of the group and from a ticket hot line' (number available at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall, mornings only).
SLIMBRIDGE Wildfowl and Wetland Trust Centre is hosting an exhibition of work by Bristol Photographic Society during the Christmas period. The display features more than 100 prints of natural history subjects and British landscapes taken by the society members. Many of the images have been taken at Slimbridge WWT. The exhibition runs until Monday, January 14. Entrance to the exhibition is free with admission to the centre.
A PANTOMIME is in preparation for production at Stinchcombe Village Hall. The Stinchcombe Village Players will be presenting Panto at the OK Corral' at the beginning of March - a pantomime with a difference, created by the company which includes a large number of local young people. The director Janet Wright said: "There is such wonderful enthusiasm from everyone involved in our shows, real community spirit - the show will be loads of fun, with lots of corny jokes.."
