A GRANDMOTHER has been left out of pocket after a Christmas present she ordered for her grandchildren never turned up.
Sue Dodge, 54, of Rangeworthy, paid £240 and was given a delivery date of December 15 when she ordered a Nintendo Wii game console online from Oldham-based Ozone Electronics.
But two days after the delivery date, Mrs Dodge was told by the company her order had not been completed and she would not be refunded.
Mrs Dodge, of Engine Common Lane, had planned to buy the console as a Christmas present for four of her grandchildren in Yate.
She said: "I was in such a panic when I found out the present was not coming and my money had been lost.
"I had ordered it a month ago and just presumed, like most of my other online shopping, that it would come on time.
"But to find out just days before Christmas I had lost the money and grandchildren's Christmas present was just sickening."
Mrs Dodge said she chose the website because it had been recommended on shopping website Amazon.
The company, which has a shop in Oldham, closed recently without any explanation.
Trading standards officers in Oldham confirmed to the Gazette that the business had shut up shop.
A spokesman said: "Trading standards are advising customers who paid with a debit or credit card to contact their card providers. But it seems unlikely that orders will be fulfilled."
Mrs Dodge managed to buy a Nintendo Wii in time for Christmas at Game store.
She said: "It has ended up costing me nearly £500 for a Christmas present.
"It is so sad that this company was selling stock for children it must have known it was not going to deliver.
"This must have ruined Christmas for so many people."
Mrs Dodge added that she was hoping to regain the money paid out after her bank told her it would investigate her claim.
