A RETIRED couple received a very unusual gift from Father Christmas this year - a fresh 20lb turkey on their front lawn.
When Mike Leith and his wife woke up on Christmas morning they looked out of their bedroom window to see a turkey in their front garden.
The couple, from Wotton-under-Edge, have asked all their neighbours if the Christmas bird, which they have keep in their freezer, belongs to them but no one has claimed it.
Mr Leith, said: "At first my wife thought it was a big piece of white paper and I thought it was a swan.
"When we went down to take a look it was a fresh 20lb turkey from a butchers shop. Part of its leg looked like it has been in an animal's mouth. But we don't have any pets and when we looked around there were no animals to be seen."
Mr Leith was concerned that the missing bird was meant for someone's table this Christmas and called the police to see if anyone had reported a missing turkey.
"I think the policeman thought I was drunk when I told him the story. But we were worried that someone's Christmas day had been spoiled," said Mr Leith.
