TWO years ago Judith Price went on a family holiday with her daughters and their grandchildren.

At nearly 17 stone, she was unable to join in most of the fun and was left sitting on the sidelines while everyone else enjoyed themselves.

The final straw came when Judith was told she had emphysema, a chronic lung disease that restricts breathing, and that she would need to wear an oxygen mask for 15 hours a day.

Since then Judith, from Dursley, has lost an incredible six-and-a-half stone in weight, dropping five dress sizes to a 12/14.

"My life was passing me by and my children needed their mother, my 12 grandchildren needed their nanny and more importantly I didn't want to feel this way any longer," said Judith, 58.

"I realised I needed to lose weight as it would benefit my health. It was now or never."

Judith joined a local Weight Watchers group and made radical changes to her eating habits.

"I used to eat a lot of fried and fatty foods, lots of cheese and meat. I would have bread with my butter, not butter with my bread," said Judith, a mother-of-four.

"Now I eat only lean meat like chicken and dry roast my meat and vegetables.

"It is all about portion control, instead of stuffing myself and eating everything I give myself small portions and only eat until I am full.

"I have got an exercise bike, which I use twice a day for 15 minutes because I cannot run with my breathing problems."

Losing the weight, Judith says, has given her bags of confidence as well as improving her health.

"I want to live to a good age to see my daughters and grandchildren grow up. The doctor said losing this amount could put an extra eight to 10 years on my life.

"Nothing is a chore anymore - it's now a whole new challenge. I take my grandchildren to the park, walk to the local shops and go on my exercise bike."
