AMATEUR dramatic company The Court Players will be introducing Rangeworthy to the 'loveable Larkin family'soon - the fun-packed comedy 'The Darling Buds of May' will be presented at the Memorial Hall from Tuesday, February 12 to Saturday, February 17 (7.30pm).

The play, written by H.E.Bates, was first presented at the Saville Theatre London in 1959 and later developed into a very well known TV series.

Living in their old farm house somewhere in Kent, the trials of life bring their own problems to the Larkin family, but 'Pop', 'Ma' and the six children remain completely oblivious of the rules and regulations around them.

Director Bryan Quinlan said: "The show boasts sixteen super characters and opens with the Larkins arriving home from a shopping spree in their 1940s American 'Dodge Fargo' truck.

"They very soon get in to all sorts of bother, including dodging the tax man, a messy strawberry fight, hosting the local gymkhana, and staging a most spectacular firework display."

This production will feature movie footage of the Larkin family arriving in the US truck (generously lent by its Chipping Sodbury owner); and greeting their 'real live' chickens and ducks.

The small stage at Rangeworthy will be cleverly split into two, so both the interior of the farmhouse and the farmyard are on show at the same time.

And the family's 'spectacular firework display' will actually happen as part of the show - the lights, sparkles and sounds can be enjoyed by both performers and audience together.

Bryan Quinlan added: "The play promises to be a fun night for all the family, with lighthearted intimate situations, plenty of laughs, and spectacular effects.

"This show is a must and is sure to appeal to everyone when the Court Players proudly present an evening of pure nostalgia."
