An Avon and Somerset police officer who allegedly told a witness to delete all messages about their year-long affair when her husband found out could lose his job.
PC David Buckley went to the woman’s home following a road traffic incident in December 2017, then allegedly gave her emotional support and had sex with her.
A notice for his misconduct hearing says the Chard-based officer told her to delete their messages and deny the relationship when her husband found out.
That was the second relationship Avon and Somerset Police became concerned about.
The allegations say that in May 2014 PC Buckley was meant to be supporting a volunteer officer but abused his position to enter a relationship with her, and subjected her to controlling, coercive and threatening behaviour.
He is also accused of using racist language towards another officer.
PC Buckley is accused of breaching the police standards of honesty and integrity, duties and responsibilities, equality and diversity, authority, respect and courtesy, and discreditable conduct.
The misconduct hearing will be held on December 6.
