A LEAKING church roof has finally been fixed thanks to a grant from Gloucester Environmental Trust.
St John the Evangelist's Church in Slimbridge was in desperate need of repair as the ministry was showered with drips from the leaky vestry roof while changing for services.
At the end of last year the church received £4,000 from the trust under the landfill tax credit scheme.
Roger Meredith, church warden, said: "Although we had been fundraising ourselves and approaching various charities, the amount required still seemed out of reach.
"We are very grateful to have received the money and we were very pleased to be able to replace the roof finally."
Members of St John's will be carrying on with their fundraising efforts to repair the chancel roof. A further £14,000 needs to be raised to complete the work.
"The chancel roof is not leaking but it does need work doing to it. So we will keep plugging away and fundraising to try to raise enough money," added Mr Meredith.
