POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision near Wick which has left a man fighting for his life.
A green Proton was travelling along the A420 through Bridgeyate towards Wick when the driver lost control of the vehicle before it collided with a tree at around 9pm yesterday.
An 18-year-old passenger in the car sustained life threatening injuries and remains in hospital in a serious condition. The driver, aged 19, escaped with less serious injuries.
Police closed a section of the A420 for several hours to allow for the force's collision investigation unit to examine the scene.
Officers arrested the driver of a silver Vauxhall Corsa in connection with the incident.
The 18-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and was interviewed about the collision before being released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the collision or witnessed the collision itself.
