POLICE have described an overloaded car on the M4 as “a recipe for disaster”.
As well as a boot filled to the brim, the blue BMW had bikes and spare bike tyres attached to the back of the car and bulky wooden items strapped to the roof.
After stopping the weighed-down car on the M4, officers said the car had hot rear tyres.
And they added that there was 'barely enough room for a driver'.
The person in charge of the car had been headed to Kent, but was ordered to remove excess cargo before continuing and was issued with a traffic offence report.
Avon and Somerset Police's Roads Policing Unit shared the photo on Twitter this morning (Friday) and said: “Overloaded? Yes, a little.
“Hot rear tyres and that weight in the car/on the roof a recipe for disaster.
“Loose tyres on bikes, barely enough room for driver. Vehicle stopped M4 Bristol en route to Kent.
“Journey over until excess cargo removed. TOR issued.”
