Its the end of an era after Bristol Zoo Gardens has announced it will close after 186 years on September 3.
Bristol Zoo Gardens first opened in 1836 and is owned and run by Bristol Zoological Society. Covering 12 acres, the zoo is home to a range of species including small and large mammals, reptiles, birds, insects and fish.
The animals are set to be relocated to sister site Wild Place Project which will remain open throughout the development phase until it becomes the new Bristol Zoo in 2024.
