Armed police have arrested a man after a suspicious package was discovered at Southmead Hospital.
A bomb squad has been deployed after the package was discovered on the hospital grounds.
Both patients and staff have been evacuated from the hospital and there is currently a cordon in place.
Police have also asked the public to avoid the area and it is being treated as an ongoing incident.

What we know about the Southmead Hospital incident
North Bristol Trust has also cancelled all outpatient appointments at the hospital today.

We’re asking all members of the public to please stay away from the Emergency Department at Southmead Hospital whilst this incident is ongoing.
Fire crews from both Temple, Southmead and Kingswood are supporting at the scene.
Avon and Somerset Police released a statement at 13.30pm: "Emergency services are at Southmead Hospital, where a man has been arrested following an incident today where a suspicious package was discovered.

At 1 pm, police confirmed that there were no injuries at that time.
