Is your community, voluntary or social enterprise group in need of financial support for a project, service, event, or activity that benefits residents across South Gloucestershire?
South Gloucestershire Council’s Area Wide Grants (AWG) are currently available and the deadline for submitting applications is midnight May, 9, 2022. This is the first round for the financial year 2022/23.
This grant can be used to support community projects, services, events, or activities that will benefit residents in at least six of the 14 Community Engagement Forum areas (for more information see www.southglos.gov.uk/cef).
The maximum grant amount is £3,000, although there is flexibility for higher awards for both exceptional circumstances and budget availability.
Organisations that received Area Wide Grant funding recently have used it to support young carers with activities, host social events to bring older people together, help give disabled people independence by providing bespoke equipment, and create networks of growing spaces, community orchards and community woodlands.
Cabinet Member for Public Health and Equality of Opportunity, Councillor Franklin Owusu-Antwi said: “Our Area Wide Grants help us support community organisations that are working for residents across South Gloucestershire. £70,000 is available this year and voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations are encouraged to apply, as well as town and parish councils. Example projects that could be eligible for funding include those that reduce isolation and exclusion, events that bring communities together, activities that promote health and well-being, or services that address a particular community need.
“Supporting the diverse array of community groups is important to the Council given the vital services and opportunities they provide to our residents. Many of these groups, despite facing their own challenges, were indispensable through the toughest times of the pandemic and I’m pleased we can offer these grants and continue to support their valuable work.”
All organisations must complete registration details online and have these approved prior to application. For more information go to www.southglos.gov.uk/AWG
