A WOMAN suffered minor injuries following a collision with a taxi in Chipping Sodbury town centre.
The incident happened outside The George Hotel in the town's High Street on Sunday, January 27 at 1.50am.
Police are investigating reports that the driver of the taxi briefly stopped before driving away.
The driver of the taxi has told officers he drove away after he was assaulted by a friend of the woman.
An ambulance was called to treat the woman's minor injuries.
Business manager at the George Hotel, Alan Richards, said: "Someone had tried to cross the street and was knocked down by a taxi.
"We had closed the pub but our doormen were still around so they went over to help police, who were there pretty quickly.
"People the girl was with gathered round the scene and there was a bit of a fuss. We hadn't seen the woman in our pub that night."
Chipping Sodbury Neighbouring Policing Sergeant Andy McIlrath said the force was awaiting an accident report before taking any action.
Any witnesses to the incident should call police on 0845 4567000.
