BRIMSHAM Green students were jumping for joy this morning as they celebrated their A-Level results at the school in Yate, as one student made it into Cambridge.
6th formers at Brimsham who have studied under the Cotswold Edge Sixth Form, the consortium of Brimsham Green School, Chipping Sodbury School and Yate Academy, received their results earlier today and headteacher Kim Garland said she 'couldn't be prouder' of her students and their results.
This is the first time that students have sat full public examinations since 2019.
Registered at Brimsham Green, but taught across all three schools, these students had some fantastic individual successes:
Rowan Berkley’s A*A*A*A*A grades have secured his place reading natural sciences at Cambridge.
Joshua Goodchild who will be furthering his considerable musical prowess through Cardiff University’s music degree course, as a result of his AAB grades.
Freddie King gained a Distinction*A*AB and is embarking on a prestigious apprenticeship in Cyber Security, and Nicole Hughes received A*AAB and is looking forward to starting her Theatre, Festival and Events Production degree at Bath Spa.
Evie Albury received AADistinction* and is excited to be beginning her education degree, and Reuben Parry's three Distinctions and an A grade allow him to study for a degree in Adult Nursing.
A number of students, such as Rebeccca Durham, wanted to keep their options open, and with her A*A*AA grades, Rebecca now has the enviable task of deciding what and where to study.
Ms Garland said, “Perhaps this year, more than ever, Cotswold Edge students are so deserving of their fantastic grades. Our partnership working continues to provide a rich curriculum offer, preparing students well for their diverse and exciting post 18 destinations. – we are so proud of all of you.”
Cotswold Edge Sixth Form is able to offer wide range of courses, and students are often taught at more than one of the schools, travelling between them on a fully funded bus. We are delighted at the outcomes of this cohort of Sixth Formers, who have been extremely well supported in overcoming the difficulties of lockdowns and other disruptions to their learning, enabling them to focus on fulfilling their goals for their next steps. This has resulted in many notable successes, with students now able to move on to the next stage of their education or career pathways.
