Mum's tribute after sudden death of adorable baby in Berkeley

Caleb Irving was just four-months-old when he died at home in Fishers Road, Berkeley last month.

This week, mum Kylie Fidock, 34, thanked everyone who has helped since Caleb's death - and spoke movingly about her beautiful boy who was 'always smiling'.

She would like as many people as possible to attend the funeral service at Gloucester Crematorium next month.

“I want to show that my son touched so many people’s lives and give him the best send off that he deserves," said Kylie, who also has a daughter, Nevaeh, eight, who attends Berkeley Primary School.

"Caleb's was loved so much by his mummy, daddy and sister and by everyone in the community and we want to thank everyone who has reached out.

"I’ve had so much support, the community has been amazing.

"Everyone rallied around me and Nevaeh.

"I'm so very grateful to everyone who has supported and reached out to us.

"Everyone is welcome to come and say goodbye."

Kylie described Caleb and Nevaeh as her 'miracle' children as she has previously suffered several miscarriages.

When Caleb was born on March 7 at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, it was an extra special moment for the family.

"Caleb was my rainbow baby as me and his dad sadly miscarried our child before him two years ago," said Kylie, who has struggled with fertility and has suffered nine miscarriages since the age of 17.

"Caleb was loved so much, even before he even arrived.

"He was a very content baby who was very happy and always smiling.

"He hardly ever cried and was brilliant at sleeping and eating.

"In the weeks leading up to his passing he learnt how to laugh.

"He enjoyed the bath and was always laughing in the tub."

Emergency services were called after Caleb was found unresponsive on the morning of Sunday, July 17.

Kylie - who grew in Dursley - described how the incident has turned the family's life upside-down.

"Since then my life has been in pieces," said Kylie, who has since moved in with family in Stroud with Nevaeh as being at home in Berkeley was too traumatic.

"We haven’t been able to return back to the house, I found it too hard to go back there.

"It's affected everyone really badly

"It's absolutely devastating, you never expect it to happen to you.

"When I woke up that day, I never expected to find him gone.

"There were no concerns or anything with his health.

“The night before, I gave him a bath, a bottle and put him to bed.

“I got up to do his nightly feed as normal and then when I went in the next morning I found him sadly passed away.

"I didn't sleep for about two weeks afterwards because I kept asking could I have done something more."

Kylie described how difficult it has been trying to make Nevaeh aware of what has happened.

“She’s very sad. She obviously misses Caleb a lot," she said.

“She’ll be attending the funeral with us as well.

“We’ve explained to her what it means and how we can say goodbye to him,

“She's very aware that he is not coming back and is absolutely heartbroken.

“It's broken our family to pieces we're all trying to muddle together and get through it.”

The funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 8 at Gloucester Crematorium at 2.30pm.
