ELECTRIC bikes with a combined value of £100,000 have been stolen from a shop in South Gloucestershire.
Gloucestershire Electric Motocross in Cromhall near Charfield which sells electric bikes, products and customised builds only recently opened their showroom.
Last weekend, a total of 35 bikes, including children's and adult models, as well as accessories such as spare parts and helmets, were stolen.
On Saturday, November 5 from around 6pm to 11.35pm burglars managed to damage the shop’s alarm system and CCTV.
Owner Rusty Griffiths who lives in Tetbury said the equipment stolen was worth over £100,000 and said he was ‘devastated’.
He said: “We have only been open for just a couple of weeks.
“We originally opened to help support young children and give them a safe place to ride in a safe environment.
“We are broken and we have lost everything and I mean everything.
“Please keep an eye out for all the bikes.
“We won’t give up hope but we will not be open for some time.”
Before the burglary the team was organising an open day at their showroom this weekend to celebrate their opening with a firework display, bike track, DJ and bouncy castle.
Despite the circumstances Rusty is still encouraging people to attend the event on Saturday, November 12.
He said: “We are still going to carry on with our open day, we only have a few electric balance bikes available for hire now.
“We have done so much to make this event work and put so much time and money into it.
“We would all appreciate people coming along to try to make our day a little better.”
The family event will take place in Cromhall from 3pm to 8pm at at their showroom at GL12 8AA, Woodend Lane.
