ROYAL Mail workers are extending their opening hours for the Christmas period despite strike action taking place on Friday and Saturday.
Posties at Dursley Delivery Office in Draycott have extended their hours which will affect customers in the GL11, GL12 and GL13 postcodes.
Graham Wilkes, Dursley's Royal Mail office manager said: “Locally we have made the decision to extend the callers office opening times in the lead up to Christmas.
“This will allow you to collect your parcels that you have been left a red calling card for.
“At present strikes have been announced by the CWU for Friday and Saturday.
The hours open at Draycott will be as follows:
- Wednesday, December 21 - 7.30pm to 5.45pm
- Thursday, December 22 - 7.30am to 5.45pm
- Friday December 23 - 7:30am to 3pm
- Saturday, December 24 - 6am to 12.30pm
Previously the office was shut at 10am on weekdays.
Graham added: “Depending on staffing levels we may be able to extend these times but the above is as a minimum and extends the nationally directed two hours a day to allow you more chances to collect the parcels we have attempted to deliver.”
