A PUB in the centre of Dursley has reopened with new owners promising customers cheap beer, homemade food and a traditional pub atmosphere.
The King's Head on Parsonage Street reopened last week on Thursday (January 12) and was unveiled by Dursley mayor Symon Ackroyd.
New landlords Colin Cosimni and his son Moreno decided to reopen the much-loved pub as they decided that Dursley needed a ‘good old fashioned pub like Wetherspoons’.
The pub will be open daily from 11am serving real ale along with continental lagers and local ciders as well as home cooked foods including steaks, burgers and fish.
“The first night was much busier than expected and there were a few hiccups but we believe this will be a thriving business and a home for the locals,” Colin said.
“We felt that Dursley needed a proper good old fashioned pub like Wetherspoons with cheap beer and high quality food. And the King's Head was the perfect place for that.”
Former King's Head landlord Pat stopped trading last month on Friday, December 30 and said previously in a Facebook statement that he wished Colin and his team good luck.
Dursley mayor, Symon Ackroyd said: “It is important for local businesses to operate in Dursley especially in the current climate.
“I trust local residents will support Colin, Moreno and the team in their new venture.”
The pub was previously named Gazette Pub of the Year in 2016 for the Dursley, Berkeley and Wotton area.
Colin and Moreno plan to host live music nights at the pub with a band and DJ.
The first live music event is a rock and roll night which is due to take place on February 25.
