A CHARITY is celebrating after receiving a tuneful and kind-hearted donation to help provide hot lunches to disadvantaged people in Cam and Dursley.

The team at the GL11 Community Hub were overjoyed that The Waterley Bottom Mummers, a travelling company of local singers and actors, visited during packed-out lunch to present a donation of more than £200.

The Mummers came dressed in costume on Thursday (January 19) and delighted the crowd with a performance of a traditional song known as a Wassail.

The Mummers, all long standing performers from the local area, raised the funds by performing their traditional songs and ancient tales in local pubs over the Christmas season.

The group performed in local pubs and events around Wotton, Uley, Dursley, North Nibley, Kingswood, Charfield and Cromhall during the festive season last year.

Half of the Mummers' proceeds were also donated to the The Keepers Community Hub in Wotton.

Indigo Redfern, CEO of the GL11 Community Hub said: “Our lunch guests were delighted by the Waterley Bottom Mummer’s performance.

“We are truly thankful for their kind donation which will mean more hot meals for people in our community.”

Lunch runs every Thursday at GL11 Community Hub and has been running for more than 10 years.
