A POP-UP sharing event is taking place in Dursley next week to support young people who struggle with an eating problem.
The event, hosted by Stroud District Council and Berkeley Vale Primary Care Network will feature the work of two writers.
Charlotte is a young person with lived experience of an eating disorder whose blog has been published by the national eating disorders charity Beat Eating Disorders.
Jason Conway, a Gloucestershire-based author, poet and writer will be giving advice on how the creative writing process can help mental health and wellbeing.
Councillor Chris Brine, chair of SDC community services and licensing committee said it is important for those supporting people with eating disorders to understand that they are not alone.
He said: “This event is a great initiative – we want to encourage anyone who is supporting a young person with eating problems to connect with others who have similar experiences.”
Councillor Beki Aldam, vice-chair, said that the event will create an ethos of togetherness.
“The event will bring people together who have similar experiences and give a voice to those young people who often go unheard," she said.
Stroud District Council’s Council Plan aims to build community resilience and wellbeing, and improve the mental and physical wellbeing of people in the Stroud district.
The event will be held on Wednesday, March 15 from 6.00pm to 7.30pm in Dursley.
