HUNDREDS of worshippers swapped church pews for spectacular views, when they marched to the top of Cam Peak as part of the area’s annual Easter Walk of Witness.
The poignant Good Friday procession sees church-goers and residents erect a cross on the top of Cam Peak.
The cross will stay at the top of the hill over the Easter period.
The Walk of Witness is an annual tradition where Christians imitate the journey that Jesus Christ took carrying his cross through the streets of Jerusalem.
A similar service also took place in Stroud high street.
This year marks 55 years since the procession of witness at Cam Peak was first launched.
It started with a group of youngsters linked to ‘The People Next Door’, who made a cross out of a telegraph pole and planks of wood which they erected overnight.
The official processions, arranged by Cam and Dursley Churches Together, started a year later and have taken place every year since.
