A Yate couple has recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Heather and Philip Read who live in Kenilworth in Yate celebrated 50 years of marriage on Friday, April 21.
The couple met on May 10, 1969 at Locarno Dance Hall in Frogmore Street, Bristol - almost 54 years ago.
Heather, a short hand typist and Philip a building surveyor married four years later in 1973. The couple later married at St Mary's Church in Henbury.
Heather and Philip moved to Yate in 1980 and have lived in the town ever since.
The couple have two children, James and Katharine and three grandchildren Jack, Will and Bethany. All of whom live in Yate.
The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary by a week of celebrations which included a meal out at The Lamb in Iron Acton, a trip to Weymouth, as well as with cake and fish and chips.
When asked what makes for a successful marriage Philip answered "being truly in love" whilst Heather said that "it is all about give and take and having some of your own space."
