A CORONATION community picnic in Thornbury has been cancelled due to bad weather.
The event in Mundy Playing Fields tomorrow, Saturday, May 6 was due to have a big screening of the historic event as well as royalty themed dressing up competition and various nature activities.
Staff and organisers from Thornbury Town Council say they are ‘absolutely’ gutted.
Clerk Kath MacConnachie said: “It is with a very heavy heart that we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the Coronation Community Picnic that was due to be held on the Mundy Playing Fields tomorrow.
“The forecast has continued to deteriorate and the weather now looks to be atrocious for Saturday.
“We are absolutely gutted about this.
Ms MacConnachie added: “All staff are absolutely gutted – we had put so much work into it.
“It could have been fabulous if the weather had played ball.”
