A Gloucestershire soldier is getting ready to go on parade for the Coronation.
Trooper Manueli Tuisavatu, will be marching in the procession of more than 5,000 military personnel that escorts King Charles and Queen Camilla from the Coronation service at Westminster Abbey back to Buckingham Palace
The 22-year-old who is part of the Queen’s Royal Hussars described taking part in the coronation as “the proudest moment of my life”.
Tpr Tuisavatu, who went to Churchdown School Academy, joined the Army last year.
Born in Fiji, he moved to the UK aged two when his father joined the Army, serving with the 23 Pioneer Regiment Royal Logistic Corps.
“I always wanted to join the Army,” he said.
“I could see how much my father enjoyed his job and made such good friends out of it.
“It’s early days for me, but this is a job I feel really comfortable in and I can see that there are so many opportunities for me to have a successful career.”
The Queen's Royal Hussars is the British Army's most senior armoured regiment, with a distinguished service history and is currently based at Tidworth, Wiltshire.
The regiment is known for its use of the Challenger 2 main battle tank and was deployed to Iraq in 2003 and Afghanistan in 2011.
