STAFF and children at a nursery in Yate are celebrating following an outstanding Ofsted rating.

Sodbury Vale Day Nursery based at Ridgewood Community Centre in Station Road, Yate, was inspected on Wednesday, May 10.

It was found to be outstanding in all areas – the quality of education, outstanding behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management - by the education regulator Ofsted.

The nursery, which currently has 64 on its roll, is for children aged between two to five years old.  

It previously had a good rating in its last inspection in 2017.

"We are so proud that Ofsted has recognised what we thought we knew we had, all along,” said manager Julie Norcombe.

“Thank you to the team who always go above and beyond to educate and care for the children that come to Sodbury Vale and to all the parents who shared their positive and supportive comments with the Ofsted Inspector.

“We are thrilled with the outstanding judgement."

Both children and staff were praised in the glowing Ofsted report.

“Children exhibit exceptional attitudes towards learning and actively engage in thoughtfully planned activities, displaying high levels of motivation and enthusiasm.

“The managers and staff design a unique and ambitious curriculum, which caters to the needs of all children in their care. 

"The managers and staff help children cultivate excellent communication skills in a language-rich environment, where interaction is paramount.

"They skilfully introduce new vocabulary during diverse activities.

"Children display remarkable behaviour, forming exceptional relationships with peers and showcasing great social skills.

"The managers and staff reinforce expected behaviour, and children consistently follow their instructions.

"The managers and staff foster children's independence through everyday activities.

"Children excel in their literacy skills, enthusiastically participating in letter recognition activities and practising name writing.

"They access a diverse collection of books, which nurtures their passion for reading from an early age.
