A SWIMMING CLUB in Yate is celebrating 50 years.
Southwold Swimming Club, based in Yate, was founded in 1973 by founding members S.Jeal, R.Russell, K.Guy, E.Buckley and L.Tily.
The club was named after Southwold Swimming pool which is now known as Yate Leisure Centre where the club continues to train from.
"Fifty years down the line and we are still going strong," said Laura Perry.
"We have 175 swimmers on the register, ranging from four years in our Learn to Swim section up to 50 years old in our Masters squad.
"This year also marks the 10-year anniversary of our head coach Simon Wilkins.
"To mark the 50 years we are inviting current and ex swimmers, ex coaches and their families to a celebration."
This will take place at Crossbow House, Frampton Cotterell, on Saturday, September 9 at 7.30pm.
