A MAN from Gloucester has been jailed after he was caught by police breaching his anti-social behaviour injunction.
Peter Duncan, aged 47, and of no fixed abode, was served with a year-long injunction by the courts last month in June.
Among the conditions were a ban from being in a public place with an open vessel of alcohol or entering Southgate Street in Gloucester.
However, he was spotted on Tuesday (July 25) in St Mary de Crypt churchyard in Southgate Street, with an open can of alcohol.
Duncan was reported by a city protection officer and a local business, with officers arresting him a few hours later.
Appearing before Gloucester and Cheltenham County Court, Duncan was jailed for 28 days.
He was also told that his Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction would remain active on his release.
Solace officer Adam Stevens said: "Despite continued efforts to stop Duncan's persistent anti-social behaviour, he has continued to act in this way.
"He has continued to ignore the conditions of this injunction and, as a result, he has found himself back before the courts.
"We will continue to work with the community, alongside organisations including BiD, City Safe and the City Protection Officers, to curtail those who choose to act in an anti-social way.
"This sends out a clear message that we will not tolerate these behaviours in our city."
- Under the injunction, Duncan is forbidden, whether by himself or instructing or encouraging any other person, from:
- Engaging in conduct which causes or is capable of causing alarm or harassment or distress to any person living in or visiting the City of Gloucester at any time;
- Using or threatening to use violence towards any person living in or visiting the City of Gloucester at any time;
- Being in a public place with an open bottle or open can or cup or glass containing alcohol in a public place within the city of Gloucester;
- Entering or being in the area of Southgate Street in Gloucester.
- The injunction will remain in place until 14 June 2024.
