Every week, the Gazette Series publishes death notices and funeral announcements from the families of loved ones who have passed away.

As well as appearing in print, our death notice pages will remain online as a lasting tribute to the memory of those we have lost.

METTLER Ann Widow of Peter passed away peacefully on 24th July. Funeral 1.15pm on Friday 18th August, Westerleigh Crematorium. Family flowers only. Donations to Cancer Research UK. Afterwards at Sodbury Cricket Club to celebrate Ann's life.

May Pretty (nee Hillman)

PRETTY May (nee Hillman) of Whiteway Close, Dursley. Passed away peacefully at Gloucester Royal Hospital on 3rd August 2023 aged 91. Funeral service will be held at Dursley Tabernacle on Friday 25th August at 12:00 noon followed by cremation at Gloucester Crematorium. Flowers or donations for Dursley Tabernacle, in memory of May, made payable to L.W.Clutterbuck Ltd, Funeral Directors, and can be sent to 24-26 High Street, Cam, Dursley, Glos, GL11 5LE.

David PAYNE

PAYNE David On the 2nd August 2023, peacefully at Lochduhar Care Home, Dumfries, David Howe Payne, aged 93 years, formerly of Auldgirth. Former Head at Berkeley Vale School. Beloved husband of the late Sheila, dearly loved father of Morwenna and Richard, father-in-law of Julia, much loved Grandpa of Rebecca, Stephanie, Rory and Alistair, and Great Grandpa of Lucas. Service at Roucan Loch Crematorium on Wednesday 16th August at 1.00pm. All friends are respectfully invited to attend. Family flowers only please, donations if desired for staff at Lochduhar Care Home can be given at the service in memory of David.

Stella Woodward

WOODWARD Stella Of Cam Passed away on 28th July 2023, surrounded by her family. Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. BENDALL Gerald Victor Passed peacefully away at home on the 4th of August 2023, aged 95 years. A much loved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. The family are having a private funeral service.
